We're two sisters who have always shared a love of creativity, making things with our hands, and finding inspiration in nature, animals, and the little things that make life beautiful. While our styles may be different, our passion for creating is something we've always shared.

That creative spirit runs in the family. We grew up with a mom who also loves crafting and making things by hand, and we're grateful to have had creativity woven into our lives from the very beginning. Black & Glitter is our adventure as sisters, but it's also a little celebration of the love of creating that has always been part of our family.

Emily

Hi! I'm Emily, the Glitter side of Black & Glitter.

I've always loved creating and trying new things. Whether it's sewing, working with plants, creating with flowers, or diving into a brand-new project just to see if I can make it, creativity has always been one of my favorite ways to spend my time.

I'm inspired by nature in all its forms—from blooming gardens and wildflowers to houseplants, changing seasons, and the beauty found in everyday moments. I love creating pieces that feel cozy, cheerful, and full of life.

For me, handmade items are special because they become part of people's stories. A thoughtful gift, a cozy comfort, a favorite decoration, or something that simply makes someone smile can carry memories and meaning for years to come.

I especially love sewing, experimenting with new materials and techniques, and discovering new ways to create something beautiful, useful, and meaningful.

Some of my favorite moments are the ones spent creating alongside my sister—sharing ideas, trying new projects, and cheering each other on along the way. Our styles may be completely different, but that's part of what makes creating together so special.

Melinda

Hi! I'm Melinda, the Black side of Black & Glitter.

If it's spooky, quirky, derpy, wonky, or just a little weird, I'm probably going to love it. My favorite creations are the ones with tiny crooked smiles, goofy expressions, and just enough personality to make me laugh. I know a piece is finished when I catch myself giggling at it.

For me, crafting is more than making things. It's how I unwind from everyday life and how I stay connected with my sister. We may have completely different styles, but creating together is one of my favorite things.

I have one simple rule: if I'm not smiling while I'm making something, I stop and craft something that makes me happy. Life is too short to force creativity.

While sewing and I have agreed to respectfully stay out of each other's way, I love working with clay, watercolor, painting, and all kinds of mixed media. Every piece I create is made simply because I enjoyed making it, and I hope it brings the same smile to someone else's face.
